Volume 2
Volume 2 begins with an extensive scholarly analysis of the gift of tongues, followed by seven lines of argumentation (exegetical, theological, hermeneutical-ethical, historical, etc.) for the continuation of gifts of the Spirit. The remainder of this volume is comprised of a lengthy analysis of cessationism. Five types of cessationism are critiqued (i.e., Calvin, Warfield, Gaffin, hyper-preterists, and a partial cessationist). Then an exegetical analysis of the main Scripture texts used by cessationists (1 Cor 13; Eph 2:20; etc.) is made. Finally, rebuttals are given to the eight most-common cessationist arguments (e.g., ongoing special revelations are incompatible with a closed canon and with the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture).
